Registration now open for the 2012 Youth Ambassadors Program

Brasilia, May 3, 2011 – Registration opens today for the 10th annual Youth Ambassadors Program, an exchange program of the United States Mission in Brazil. The program offers 35 Brazilian public school students with outstanding academic performance, a history of volunteer service  in their communities, and good English language skills to represent Brazil as “ambassadors”’ during a three-week exchange program in the United States.

Following the Youth Ambassadors’ return from the United States, the U.S. Embassy offers them short-term English language programs and undergraduate degree opportunities through the Education USA centers in Brazil. In 2011, five students were granted English language and U.S. culture scholarships for summer programs in the U.S. sponsored by Bradesco Bank, the Leadership Institute of Rio de Janeiro (IL-Rio) and several well-known U.S. schools including Cushing Academy, Phillips Exeter Academy, Andover Phillips Academy and Culver Academy.
